About the role
Linear is partnering with a newly formed venture at the intersection of sports and education to place an Executive Assistant alongside its Managing Partner and Chief of Staff. The organization is small, well-backed, and moving quickly toward a signature launch event. This seat is the connective tissue of the leadership team: you will run a demanding, constantly evolving calendar, keep travel on track with an external agency, and quietly back up the inbox so the executive can stay directly engaged. Because the team is lean, the role naturally extends into event planning, editing, and whatever the week requires. It suits someone who acts before being asked, enjoys candid and fast feedback, and is at ease across email, phone, and several active group threads at once, using AI tools to keep it all organized. Based in New York or Chicago with hybrid flexibility.
Responsibilities
- ·Take full ownership of a high-volume calendar: resolve conflicts, clear stale holds, and anticipate changes before they surface
- ·Manage all travel, including last-minute trips, in coordination with an outside travel partner
- ·Serve as secondary coverage on the inbox, surfacing priorities while the executive remains hands-on
- ·Handle select personal logistics, such as vacation and family travel planning
- ·Contribute to team-wide projects, from launch-event logistics to editing and proofing materials
- ·Pull signal from email, phone, and group chats into a single, current view of priorities
- ·Use AI tools to turn scattered communication into clear, actionable next steps
- ·Work closely with a small, collaborative team as the organization grows
Requirements
- ·2–5 years supporting a senior executive in a startup, venture-backed, or similarly fast-paced setting
- ·A self-starter who solves problems and anticipates needs without waiting for direction
- ·Thick-skinned and steady with direct, real-time feedback
- ·Personable and outgoing, with a sharp read on tone in quick, informal messages
- ·Exceptional organization and sound judgment on a shifting calendar
- ·Genuine comfort using AI tools to manage heavy communication volume
- ·Available for short-notice travel and occasional extended hours around key moments
- ·Strong written and verbal communication; works well within a close-knit team
Preferred
- ·Interest in sports, education, or mission-driven organizations
- ·Experience supporting a launch, major event, or early-stage build-out
Benefits
- ·Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience
- ·Annual bonus
- ·Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- ·401(k) with employer match
- ·Confidential, partner-led candidate representation from Linear
