About the role
A discreet principal in Brooklyn is hiring a Chief of Staff to serve as the operating anchor of a growing private family office. The seat covers the full surface area of the principal's life and work: running the weekly cadence, preparing for outside meetings, owning cross-functional projects across investments, real estate, and philanthropy, and acting as the trusted second read on incoming opportunities. This is a long-horizon partnership role for a senior operator who wants ownership without the org-chart weight of a corporate seat and who thrives on complete confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- ·Own the principal's operating cadence: weekly priorities, quarterly planning, annual review
- ·Draft briefings, decision memos, and stakeholder communications on the principal's behalf
- ·Lead cross-functional projects across investments, real estate, household, and philanthropy
- ·Serve as the single point of coordination for outside counsel, accountants, and advisors
- ·Manage confidential initiatives from idea to close with minimal oversight
- ·Coach and coordinate the internal team of five across functions
Requirements
- ·8+ years in a chief-of-staff, operating, or senior founder-office seat
- ·Demonstrated ability to hold complete confidence over sensitive information
- ·Excellent structured writing and clear, calm judgment under pressure
- ·Track record of leading through influence across senior stakeholders
- ·Based in or willing to relocate to the New York area
Preferred
- ·Prior seat inside a family office, hedge fund, venture firm, or founder office
- ·Exposure to real estate, philanthropy, or private investment workflows
Benefits
- ·Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- ·Paid time off and federal holidays
- ·401(k) or retirement contribution (role-dependent)
- ·Annual performance bonus eligibility
- ·Confidential, partner-led candidate representation from Linear
